It all Started with a dream!

Pete had dreamed of owning a mobile crazy golf course for many years. However, the decision to build Crazy9 took shape during a family party on a summer day in 2017. While discussing his idea of a mobile crazy golf course that could be set up at weddings or corporate events, Pete received such an enthusiastic response from his cousin that it inspired him to dive deeper into the concept, putting more thought, sketches, and research into it.

After Christmas, Pete finally secured a workshop studio space on the top floor of an old cotton mill near Manchester. As he worked on designs and prototypes, he delved into learning about ball dynamics, discovering that the project was surprisingly more technical than it initially seemed. The first few months were quite an experience, particularly February in the freezing cold mill, which often felt colder inside than out.

We created 9 sets of bases and 9 features, using latex molds to cast intricate details for the wedding cake, and laminated curved plywood to form smooth, rolling ‘hilly’ holes. Philip, skilled with a sewing machine, crafted our vintage outfits while also working on the more technical holes. We brainstormed countless names, from ‘Tweedle Tee’ to ‘Who’s your Caddy?’. Then came the marketing phase—developing websites, designing magazine ads, printing business cards, and establishing our brand identity. It was a lot to handle, but we persevered. Today, we proudly present a unique, beautiful, and fun mobile crazy golf course that rivals even some of the best fixed-site courses.

A Passion For Entertaining combined with a love for Crazy Golf

Pete earned a degree in 3D design and began his career in the leisure industry, designing bars, restaurants, and cinemas. He then opened his own art gallery while also painting murals and creating artistic paint effects for commercial and residential interiors in the North East region.

After relocating to Cheshire, he founded a 3D prop and painting company serving the leisure industry, before moving to the USA a couple of years later. There, he secured an incredible position at the architectural firm JGA in Detroit, which specialized in retail design.

Four happy years later, Pete and Philip decided to move to Greece. See Philip’s bio for more details, substituting words like ‘clever’, ‘technical’, and ‘engineer’ with ‘arty’, ‘designer’, and ‘creative’.

Pete is also an accomplished portrait sculptor, a creative thinker, and a skilled carpenter. He once held the course record of 16, along with Mark from Runaway Brewery in Manchester, until Philip (by sheer luck) scored an unbelievable 13!

Philip is just an all-around nice guy who loves entertaining and thrives on creating memorable moments for others. Even our movie nights turned into themed events with hors d’oeuvres, a roulette table, and formal cocktail attire for the latest Bond film!

He began his career as an apprentice at Rolls-Royce Bentley, moving into software mechanical integration. He advanced to project manager for custom Bentleys, liaising with the American Sunroof Company (ASC), specialists in soft-top, sunroof, and concept car design and manufacture. ASC was so impressed that they hired him, and he moved to Detroit to become their top project manager for show and concept cars.

After four years of nonstop work in the U.S., Philip and Pete decided it was time for a change. They packed their bags, hopped into their Jeep, and moved to the beautiful island of Samos in Greece.

There, they renovated a crumbling Ottoman house into a modern, stylish home and eventually sold it. Back in the UK, they renovated several more houses, including an impressive million-pound refurbishment of a 17th-century Grade II listed townhouse in Spitalfields, London, while also building a successful web design business.

On top of all this, Philip is an expert plumber, electrician, tiler, joiner, and an excellent baker (though we didn’t need those skills). He is also an amazing electromechanical engineer, software programmer, and electronics expert with a love of automata, making his skills indispensable.
